Facio Workshops’ works to alleviate the pressure through providing an opportunity for teachers and students alike to be creative together. Class teachers are encouraged to participate in parts of the workshop, specifically the performance aspect, so students can amalgamate any new skills gained and showcase at the end of day.

FACILITATORS

Esther Myers

Esther is originally from Yorkshire, where she performed extensively with The Workshop Youth Theatre. Upon arriving in London, she studied BA Drama at Greenwich University where she specialised in SEN and physical theatre.  She also has developed improvised and scripted productions for their Engage programme and is currently exploring writing for youth theatre. Esther has a particular focus on community theatre, especially accessibility for SEN and young people from economically deprived backgrounds.

Lucy Eve Mann

I studied Theater, Film and Television at Bristol University from 2013-2016. Both during that time and since, I’ve worked as a drama facilitator for a year and a bit now, working with a huge variety of young people from age 4 to 19. Increasingly working with vulnerable young people and special educational needs and disability, using drama specifically as a tool for accessing education, communication and encouraging creativity.

Andy Davies

Andy is an experienced and versatile workshop facilitator. He has a BA in Drama and attended the Two Year acting training course at one of London’s prestigious drama schools. Andy works part time for a charity running workshops around the UK and also runs SandBox Journeys, a Film-making in Education company specializing in Green-screen film-making with students from 8 to 15 years old. He is also an experienced actor and director and has performed in a number of stage shows around the capital and several short and feature films.

Gemma-Marie

I am a freelance workshop leader/facilitator/teacher and a performer and writer. Her writing work made it’s London debut at Theatre 503 in Winter of 2017 and her writing for children’s theatre has been workshopped and staged at Watford Palace Theatre. Gemma-Marie’s performing work has taken her to Edinburgh’s Gilded Balloon, London’s Leicester Square Theatre, Vaults Theatre and Adelphi Theatre and made her a semi-finalist at Funny Women Awards, Laughing Horse New Act of the Year and Musical Comedy Awards and in a short-film that was finalist of Home Spun Yarns 2017. Gemma-Marie has a BA Hons (First Class) in Creative Arts from Canterbury Christ Church University and studied at Associated Studios on their Advanced Musical Theatre course.

Sarah Mayhew

As an actor her credits include Maggie in BBC’s White Gold, Fran in Fran & Leni for which she nominated for Best Actress; Pramkicker, Miss Barnes in The Winslow Boy, Nurse in The Sunshine Boys, Miss Mason in Erpingham Camp, Danny & the Deep Blue Sea, When I Was a Girl I Used to Scream & Shout,  Serving It Up & Road. She also starred in a sell-out run of Russell Kane’s Fakespeare at the Pleasance Edinburgh & RSC Stratford-upon-Avon. Sarah has 20 years’ worth of experience working with young learners and acting students. She has  taught at many different levels including reception, primary, and senior schools, GCSE, BTEC, A ‘level, HND and degree courses. Sarah is really excited to join the Facio team.

Johanna Tuominen

I am a freelance actress with experience in dramatherapy, youth dance teaching and facilitating for groups of adults with special needs. My recent experience has been in a group of people with learning disabilities at a Cambridge based charity and arts centre (Rowan) through a social theatre company called Acting Now.

My passion for acting has led me to continue my development as a performer,  studying and working among various different cultures around the world. Such experience allows me to engage my passion for the arts with my drive to improve the well-being of others through theatre

Akeim Toussaint

I am a multifaceted performing artist, born in Jamaica and raised in England. He seeks to create moving, thought provoking, accessible, organised and free spirited projects. Since graduating from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance with a first-class honours Bachelor degree in Performing Arts, Akeim has been involved in multiple cross disciplinary programmes with a wide range of artists and communities from around the world. His focus as a maker and collaborator is to combine expressive skills such as dance, writing, film, poetry, beat-box, singing and acting to create performances that tell stories to bring together diverse people.
